Helping you to help you

We are a unique company in Scotland, offering wellbeing services for living and for dying.

  • Treatments in hypnotherapy to help better tackle the everyday obstacles of life.
  • A death doula service to help prepare for, navigate and be comfortable with the experience of dying.

Our story

Hygge Healing is a wife and husband team living in Edinburgh. Tamara provides our services, and Jamie manages more administrative things behind the scenes.

Tamara earned her diplomas in Clinical Hypnotherapy and in Hypnotherapy for Depression from The Scottish School of Clinical Hypnosis. She trained as a death doula through Going With Grace, with additional ‘After the Last Breath’ certifications from Scottish charity Pushing up the Daisies.

Jamie enjoyed a previous career in operations for non-profit cultural and heritage organisations, and is currently retraining as a counsellor. He holds a PhD in philosophy of the mind, with a specialist focus on perception, memory, consciousness and habits, and a strong interest in death and dying.

It was our shared interest both in helping people and in the intricacies of the mind that first made us want to set up Hygge Healing – and we think our unique blend of knowledge, compassion and expertise is what sets us apart from others.

Why Hygge?

In Tamara’s Danish heritage, hygge (‘hoo geh’) is a concept that can be hard to translate, and relates to a sense of comfort, cosiness and conviviality.

Hygge also involves informal sets of social, cultural and personal practices, traditions or habits that produce this feeling of being hyggelig (‘hoogly’) – think candles, warm fires, friends and comfort food…

We think that Hygge Healing neatly brings together that sense of well-being we want to help clients develop in themselves, as well as recognising those habits or practices of the mind and body so important to living – and dying – well.
